Project assessment report: The first step to getting started on the right track is our field assessment and soil samples. We work closely with the Agronomy team at Cenex Harvest States to assess your project for the right variety of plants and fertilizers to match your needs and goals.
We will then write up a Project Report similar to the example shown on this web site for your project. It will have information about existing weed problems, the soil sample results from the lab, and a recommendation of seed and fertilizer for the project. It will also have a GPS map showing the size and shape of the project. All this will give you an idea of what to expect in the first couple of years for the new crop.

Soil Samples: We can take soil samples of your fields to determine the nutrients that your soil holds and is capable of holding, then working with Cenex Harvest State we will give you a recommendation on fertilizer for your fields.

Pasture Renovations: We can do complete renovations of pastures or hay fields. Frequently, pastures get root bound or over- run by weeds and quack grass. They become very unproductive causing the owner to buy more feed for livestock. Some weeds can even be toxic to livestock. If fields are rough and uneven we can work them up and smooth them out making them easier to maintain. After the seeding is done, and the new plants are growing, maintenance of the field becomes the next priority.

Pasture Maintenance We offer spraying and mowing to control weeds and to reduce fire danger on your acreage.

Harrowing/Dragging can be done to smooth out manure and gopher piles on your fields. This allows the manure to be broke down and used by the plants more rapidly.

Aerating helps with reducing plants from becoming root bound and loosens up the compaction of the soil allowing the plants to utilize the nutrients and grow more efficiently.

Cultivation Needs: You may have some equipment but need help with part of the replanting process. We can help with our full line of equipment.

No-Till Drill: Sometimes if fields are smooth but the crop needs to be replenished, we can use a no-till drill to plant seeds into existing fields without tearing them up. This also works well with rocky soil or sandy soil that is likely to cause erosion concerns.

Custom Haying: Heritage Custom Farming has a complete line of quality haying equipment for all your haying needs. We have a John Deere rotary swather, which does a smooth, even, cut of your field in an efficient manner. This swather is designed to be transported right behind the tractor, which allows us to get in 10-foot gates. With our Vermeer twin rake we will put two windrows together when they are about dry to make baling more efficient. We have both a New Holland round baler and small square baler to make bales to fit your needs. The square baler is fitted with an accumulator to bunch ten bales together so we can move them faster with our tractor. This allows us to remove the bales with out bringing in more equipment, saving time that may be needed to beat that rainstorm. The square bales are removed as soon as possible from the field. We can stack them or load flatbed trailers with the tractor without as much manual labor. The Round baler can make bales from 30 inches to 6 feet in diameter. We prefer to make a bale about 5 feet; this makes the bale weigh about 1000 pounds. They can be net wrapped or tied with twine. The net wrapped bales cost a little more to wrap but save time and hay. They also shed water better when they are being stored outside. Haying is done on shares or contracted by the acre. We also have a large contact list for selling hay and can sell your hay for you.

Hay Sales: We hay over 400 acres across the valley and sell most of it out of the fields. We will be glad to take your orders early and call you when we are haying around your area saving you time and fuel.

Straw Sales: Each fall we bale both small square bales and 5' round bales of barley straw. Straw is great for animal bedding or stretching your hay through the winter, reducing the cost of feeding your animals. We will take your orders any time and call you when the straw is ready.

Wildlife Food Plot and Habitat: With years of experience with the outdoors and wildlife, we can help you build the habitat and food plots needed to support the animals you want to see. Whether it is for hunting or just because they are fun to watch, with the right food plots and cover, wildlife can be around all year long.

Acreage Management Do you have acreage and need help determining how best to utilize your land? If you have a goal for your land, and aren't quite sure how to go about reaching that goal, we can help you develop a plan to achieve your ideal home site. Give us a call and we will talk with you about your needs and formulate a plan to fit them.

Snow Removal: With our four-wheel drive tractors with loaders we can help move the snow piles out of your way or widen your driveways out when snowplows can't.
